Classic rewind: June 14, 2012

Towers power Gazette team

When: Thursday, June 14, 2012

Where: Sauk Valley Community College

Scores: Boys – Gazette 94, Telegraph 75;
Girls – Gazette 64, Telegraph 47

MVPs: Chris Fritsch (Sterling) 23 points, 17 rebounds; Aleena Hammelman (Sterling) 20 points, 11 rebounds

Recap: Post players Fritsch, Jordan Schaller (Erie) and Tyree White (Rock Falls) rendered the staple 1-3-1 zone of Newman coach Ray Sharp ineffective as the Gazette team pulled away with the win. In the girls game, the combination of three Golden Warriors in Hammelman, Ashli King and Paige Lobdell, and two Rock Falls Rockets in Cheyenne Burnett and Lauren Haas proved the most effective lineup.
Dixon’s Catie Cox led the Telegraph with 18 points.

Coming this year
