Driver hurt when semitrailer crashes

OGLE COUNTY – A Utica man suffered minor injuries Monday in a single-vehicle truck crash on state Route 52 West.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 3:30 a.m. An investigation revealed that a semitrailer driven by Paul Zuk, 62, was eastbound when it drove off the roadway. The truck then hit two utility poles, a stop sign, and a culvert.

Zuk was taken to KSB Hospital in Dixon. His condition was unavailable Tuesday. The crash remains under investigation.

1 hurt Monday in Ogle County crash

OGLE COUNTY – A Franklin Grove woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday on northbound Interstate 39.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies and Linn-Scott-Rock Fire Department staff responded to the scene at 10:54 a.m. An investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by Sharon Schwarz, 66, of Franklin Grove, was northbound when Schwarz slowed in traffic. Her vehicle was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Brandon Gerdes, 21, of Minonk.

A passenger in Schwarz’s vehicle, Barbara Schwarz, 41, of Franklin Grove, suffered a leg injury, and was taken by Linn-Scott-Rock ambulance to Rochelle Community Hospital. Her condition was unavailable Tuesday. Gerdes was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
