WALNUT – Gertrude M. “Gert” Eckberg, 89, of Walnut, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home. She was a beautician in the Walnut area.

Gert was born May 2, 1925, in Princeton, the daughter of Clarence and Maude (Thuliene) Raker. She married Harold Eckberg on March 17, 1946, in Princeton. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2008. She was a member of Walnut Community Bible Church. 

Survivors include three daughters, Karen (Leland) Johnson of Winnebago, Julie (Michael) Hubbell of Dixon, and Angie (Jody) Davis of Walnut; one son, Ronald (Judy) Eckberg of Erie; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday and the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Walnut Community Bible Church, with the Rev. Ron Eckberg, pastor of Erie Evangelical Free Church, and the Rev. Eldon Cook, pastor of Walnut Community Bible Church, co-officiating. Burial will be at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton. Garland Funeral Home in Walnut is handling arrangements,
