Illinois State Police confirm fatality on Interstate 39

Four cars and a semitrailer were involved in a fatal accident on southbound Interstate 39 between Baxter Road and state Route 72, about 1 mile north of a construction zone Monday afternoon. The Illinois State Police confirmed one person is dead and said it is unclear what caused the accident, which is under investigation.
