MVPs: Eddie Riley (Sterling) 18 points, 4 steals; Devon Carbaugh (Sterling) 26 points, 10 rebounds

Recap: The girls game featured Bruce Scheidegger’s last game as a coach before leaving to become an AD at Carl Sandburg High School. Carbaugh, the star that led his Warriors to the AA state tournament, had one of the more dominant performances for a girl in the Classic. Riley, a role player for the Warriors, shined on the All-Star roster. Dixon’s Ryan Apple had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Rock Falls’ Zach House had 13 points, 18 rebounds and six blocks.

Coming this year

• The 2014 SVM All-Star Classic
will be coming from Musgrove
Fieldhouse on the campus of Sterling High School on June 19, 2014. The girls game starts at 5 p.m. The boys game will follow at
7 p.m.

Newman’s Kayci Howell starred in
basketball and volleyball. The forward, who is planning to become an engineer, scored five points per game.
