Group promotes Dixon change at Tuesday event

Published: Saturday, June 14, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

On Nov. 4, 2014, the citizens of Dixon will be asked to vote on a referendum that asks the question: “Shall the city of Dixon adopt the managerial form of government?”

A group of citizens has formed the Committee to Change City Government and is having a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Loveland Community House. Our goal is to promote passage of this referendum.

It is our belief that a council/manager form of government will allow the council members to place their primary focus on the economic growth and development of the community, while the day-to-day operations are handled by a full-time manager who has received training specific to that role.

If you are interested in learning more about the council/manager form of government and in supporting our efforts, please attend this meeting. Additional information is available at our website, yesfordixon.org.

Note to readers: Marilyn Coffey is the chairwoman of the Committee to Change City Government.
