MVPs: D.J. Olalde (Sterling) 16 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds; Sierra Skaff (Sterling) 19 points, 7 rebounds

Recap: While Olalde made a big impact, it was players from small schools like Ryan Martz (Eastland), Perry Welch (Eastland) and Kal Engelkens (Milledgeville) who helped the Gazette to one of the most lopsided games in Classic history. Rochelle’s Matt Rogers led the Telegraph team with 22 points. In the girls game, Skaff and fellow Sterling grad Amber Cox led the Gazette. Amboy’s Cortney Kaiser had 13 points, 4 assists and 4 steals for the Telegraph.

Coming this year

• The 2014 SVM All-Star Classic will be coming from Musgrove Fieldhouse on the campus of Sterling High School on June 19, 2014. The girls game starts at 5 p.m. The boys game will follow at 7 p.m.

Fulton’s Matt Dail is a sharpshooter on the court and on the golf course. He’ll continue doing both at Trinity Christian College. Dail averaged 13.7 points per game as a senior.
