MANLIUS – Irvin “Russ” Parker, 78, of Manlius, died at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at his home.

Russ was born July 2, 1935, in Mound City, the son of George and Nora (Buckles) Parker. He graduated from Mound City High School. Russ served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married Beverly Faye Truedson on March 28, 1959, in New Bedford. Russ retired from Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Sterling. He attended New Bedford Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Faye Parker of Manlius; his daughter, Ramona (Ed) Culjan of Manlius; six grandchildren, Nicole (Tim Slock) Culjan of New Bedford, Cody (Jamie) Culjan of St. Charles, Chris (Ashley) Culjan of Morris, and Parker “PJ” Baker, Caleb Seth Baker, and Drew Adam Baker, all of New Bedford; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Levi Slock of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Terri Baker; two brothers, John and Lewis Parker; and six sisters, Rosemary VanMeter, Norma Doran, Virginia Claridie, Florence Harp, Martha Insco, and Anita Parker.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at New Bedford Christian Church. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. David Beebe officiating. Burial will be at Manlius Cemetery, with military honors accorded by Wyanet Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6634. Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Manlius is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established to New Bedford Christian Church.
