Thankful for successful food drive

Published: Saturday, June 14, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

Another successful year for the Postal Food Drive.  Each year we are totally amazed at the generosity of the people of our community.

The staff of the food pantry at Rock River Christian Center gives a heartfelt thanks to all who participated in this year’s Postal Food Drive.

Thank you, Dennis Haag, for coordinating the event, the postal workers who pick up the donations, and to all of you who gave so generously. The Postal Food Drive provides one of the largest contributions to our food pantry. For that we are so thankful.

The number of people needing help never seems to go down. Keeping enough food to meet that need is not always easy, but thanks to caring, compassionate people we still can help hundreds of families each year. May God bless.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
