Buffett to be shown live on local screen

DIXON – Accomplished singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett will perform live at 8:45 p.m. June 19 at the Coyote Drive-In in Texas. Sounds like a pretty long drive for even for his biggest fans.

Good thing for local “Parrotheads,” the full-length concert will be broadcast live via satellite to select drive-in theaters, including the Midway Drive-In, 91 Palmyra Road, between Dixon and Sterling.

The gates will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $18 per person, with a minimum of two paid attendees per car. The concert is for ages 21 and over.

A variety of food and snacks will be available at the Midway Drive-In concession stand. Dixon Petunia Festival board members will be selling alcoholic beverages.

Technological advancements in digital projection and satellite delivery have allowed the Midway Drive-In to present the performance in high-definition with ultra-bright light on its 90-foot-wide screen. Digital stereo sound is delivered to each vehicle using high-fidelity FM broadcast.

No outside food or drinks will be permitted.
