Ogle County Sheriff

Chelsie J. Smith, 30, of Freeport; Thursday; warrant for possession of cannabis; posted bond and given notice to appear in court.

Blake M. Oatt, 20, of Skokie; Thursday; warrant for speeding; posted bond and given notice to appear in court.

Two hurt in Thursday crash

OGLE COUNTY – A two-vehicle crash Thursday at the intersection of state Route 72 and Mulford Road left two people with minor injuries.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 5:05 p.m. An investigation revealed that Ryan Miller, 27, of Davis Junction, failed to reduce speed, and his vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by David Hindenburg, 45, of Rockford.

Both men were taken to Rockford hospitals for treatment. Their conditions were unavailable Friday. Miller was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Monroe Center fire and ambulance staff, Kirkland ambulance staff, and state police assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Investigation of crash continues

OGLE COUNTY – An investigation continues into a May 18 crash between a motorcycle and another vehicle that left a Rockford man with minor facial and leg injuries.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies and Byron ambulance staff responded to the scene at 11:50 a.m. An investigation revealed that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Alan Rush, 53, of Rockford, was northbound on state Route 2 when Rush slowed to turn into a private drive. A Jeep Liberty driven by Matthew W. Kolve, 28, of Dixon, was northbound on Route 2 following Rush when he rear-ended Rush’s motorcycle.

Rush was taken to Swedish­American Hospital in Rockford by Byron ambulance.

His condition was unavailable Friday.
