WOODSTOCK (AP) – A 32-year-old northern Illinois man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly spraying a woman with accelerant and setting her on fire.
The Northwest Herald in Crystal Lake reports that Anthony D. Cohn of Woodstock was charged Friday after police and fire officials were called to a home where a woman needed medical attention.
Police Chief Robert Lowen says the alleged attack on the 36-year-old woman occurred late Thursday afternoon.
He says Cohn lit the woman on fire after becoming angry that “she wasn’t going along with his wishes.”
Witnesses helped put out the flames on the woman’s back after the attack, but she suffered serious burns. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment on Friday. Cohn is being held in the McHenry County Jail.
