Thank you for Postal Food Drive success

Published: Saturday, June 7, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

The Rock Falls First Christian Church Food Pantry wishes to thank the Rock Falls and Sterling Post offices for the May 10 Postal Carriers’ Food Drive. A special thank you to Dennis Haag of the Rock Falls Post Office who helped organize.

We express our gratitude to the post office staff that was involved, especially the dedicated postal drivers and mail carriers who picked up food. We would like to thank the people of our community who donated food and everyone who helped to distribute the food. Our shelves were filled, and this is greatly appreciated.

The food pantry continues to be a much-needed ministry in our community and is a wonderful way to share God’s Love. Though we are a smaller food pantry, in March we served 166 families with 496 members. We serve single people as well as large families, and the number of people we help continues to grow.

The food received by the families always is appreciated. Again, we extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to everyone who was involved.

Note to readers – Edythe Geiger is the food pantry chairwoman for First Christian Church of Rock Falls.

Reader Poll

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
