PRINCETON – Princeton Police and the Bureau County coroner are investigating the death of a 5-year-old boy whose body was found in the family vehicle Sunday.

According to Coroner Janice Wamhoff, Logan Jacobs had asked his father, Michael Jacobs, if he could play with his tablet. The elder Jacobs was doing household chores and assumed his son was in his room playing with the device. A 10-year-old sister and two other girls also were at the home.

Logan was found in the hot vehicle, which was parked in front of the home, about 2 hours later. The windows were up, the vehicle was locked, and the tablet was plugged into the charger, Wamhoff said.

The child was known to fall asleep easily, she added.

He was pronounced dead at 6:05 p.m. at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. An autopsy was done Monday, but the results were not in Thursday. An inquest may be scheduled.

Logan also is survived by his mother, Melony Jacobs, of Walnut.

Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
