Raffle for local festival kicks off Monday

MOUNT MORRIS – A 50/50 raffle will again be a part of the Let Freedom Ring Festival from July 3-5 in Mount Morris.

Last year, the Golden Anniversary Mega Raffle brought in $7,775, with a payout of $3387.50 going to Brenda Higley of Mount Morris.

Ticket sales will begin Monday, and will be sold during the festival, with the final drawing at the annual alumni dance at 10 p.m. July 5 at the Mount Morris Moose Family Center, 101 Moose Drive.

Tickets are $5 for one or four for $10.00. The grand prize will be 50 percent of the cash jackpot, and the winner needs not be present to win.

Tickets will be sold every Wednesday at the Kable Band Concerts and the Friday Night Concerts, all held at the band shell on the square. At each Friday night concert in June, a $50 prize will be given to a ticket purchaser who purchased a ticket that evening.

Tickets will also be on sale at several businesses in Mount Morris, as well as at the city clerk’s office.

Tickets also can be purchased by sending cash or check, payable to LFR Raffle, to LFR Raffle, P.O . Box 95, Mt. Morris, IL 61054. The proceeds of the raffle will help fund the annual festival.

The theme of this year’s festival is “A Star Spangled Celebration.”

The fireworks are planned to begin at dark Friday at David L. Rahn Junior High, 105 W. Brayton Road.

There will be a beer garden from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. each day during the festival.

The parade is set for Friday. A bags tournament will take place Saturday.
