David L. Piper Sr.

ROCKTON – David Lee Piper Sr., 70, of Rockton, died at 6:45 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2014, at Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was an auto body repairman for Car Craft in Rockford, retiring in 2012.

He was born March 4, 1944, in Dixon, the son of Harold and Mabel (Adams) Piper. He married Cheryl L. Homewood on Sept. 19, 1981, in Hawkeye, Iowa. David loved golf. He was a friend of Bill W., and sober for 33 years.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Piper of Rockton; daughters, Teasha McMillion of Tampa, Florida, and Tori Novay of Dixon; son, David (Renee) Piper Jr. of Dixon; daughters, Kimberly Ellefson of Rockford and Amy Ellefson of Rockton; son, Don Ellefson of Rockton; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ian Novay; and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton. Cremation rites will be accorded.

A memorial will be established.
