MVP: Brandon Creason, Rochelle, 20 points

Recap: In a game of runs, Creason led the Blue team’s final run to push past the Red, and put coach Lloyd Johnson back on the winning track. Coming off the bench to score 12 points for the Blue team was Franklin Center’s Nate Girton, who years later would coach the AFC Raiders. Sterling players swept the halftime activities, as Brian Hawkins won the 3-point contest, and Thom Shore won the dunk contest. Shore led the Red team with 20 points.

Coming this year

• The 2014 SVM All-Star Classic will be coming from Musgrove Fieldhouse on the campus of Sterling High School on June 19, 2014. The girls game starts at 5 p.m. The boys game will follow at 7 p.m.

Newman’s Mary Alice Oswalt was a throwback athlete. She excelled in three sports – tennis, basketball and softball – for the Comets during her 4 years.
