Dixon streetscape work to expand in Week 2

DIXON – The downtown streetscape project will enter its second week next week.

Work will continue on the same street sections as this week, Commissioner Jeff Kuhn said, with the possible addition of a few more closures.

On the east side of the project, both lanes of traffic on First Street, from Hennepin Avenue to Galena Avenue, will remain closed.

Weather permitting, work will begin on the sidewalk on the south side of the street, as well as concrete being poured for a retaining wall.

On the west side of the project, work will continue on Peoria Avenue, from Second Street to Third Street. Both sides of traffic on that block will continue to be closed, Kuhn said.

Work also will continue to take place on the north side of Third Street, from Peoria Avenue to Highland Avenue.

Kuhn said there could be a few days next week when the intersection of Second Street and Peoria Avenue will have to be closed for work.

Additionally, he said, there is a possibility, weather permitting, that the east side of Peoria Avenue, between First Street and Second Street, could be closed.
