To those who lose jobs, it will be catastrophic

In response to the Caterpillar/Anchor coupling article on May 9, I was so relieved when I read that Anchor Coupling’s consolidating and possibly leaving was not going to be  catastrophic for the city.

Well, Mayor Burke, obviously you didn’t have the employees in mind when you made that statement; 160 people could be out of a job, and it “will” be a catastrophe for most of us.

However, do not worry about us as long as you are fine. That seems to be your only agenda.

Sterling Mayor Skip Lee seems concerned about the business and the people. You have my respect, Mayor Skip Lee.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
