Lee senior facility to mark 40 years

Published: Friday, May 23, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

DIXON – Lee County Council on Aging and the senior center’s 40th anniversary will be celebrated from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the site, 100 W. Second St.

A light dinner will be provided, and tours of the facility will take place. Participants can gather clues about LCCOA for a chance to win a foursome golf package at Lost Nation Golf Club. Old photographs and memorabilia will be displayed, and a journal will be provided to record memories.

LCCOA first was incorporated on May 29, 1974, and occupied space at Orchard Glen Nursing Home until January 1976. The agency bought the old post office building in 1979 with help from the city of Dixon, and has remained there since.
