Quilters sought for Byron exhibit

BYRON – Area quilters and collectors are welcome to participate at Byron Museum’s 27th annual Quilt Show July 11-13 during ByronFest.

Quilts will be displayed at the American Legion building, 116 N. Union St., and at the museum, 110 N. Union St. Greeter and handler volunteers are needed.

There will be a no-entry fee “Just for Show” category. All other categories will be $5 per article. The quilt show hours are 5 to 8 p.m. July 11, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 12, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13.

Quilters can register at the museum from Wednesday through July 9. during regular museum hours, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Registration also will be accepted from 3 to 7 p.m. July 9.

Items will be selected for awards by a judge, and viewers will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite quilt or wall hanging to win a “People’s Choice” award.

The main categories are: quilts, antique, wearable art, wall hangings, and just for show. Cash prizes and blue ribbons will be awarded for first place in each of 10 categories and ribbons to second- and third-place winners.

Wanda Cacciatore and Jan Emmons are the quilt show committee co-chairwomen.
