MENDOTA – Mendota Community Hospital has signed a Letter of Intent to affiliate with OSF Healthcare System, one of the largest integrated systems in Illinois.

The partnership would give MCH financial stability and ensure that the hospital can continue to meet the community’s health care needs into the future.

MCH has collaborated with OSF HealthCare for many years as an independent affiliate of the system, and the two organizations have similar missions.

Like many stand-alone, nonprofit hospitals, Mendota Community Hospital been evaluating the best way to serve the community in light of the changing health care landscape and the new demands it puts on healthcare providers.

The MCH Board of Directors began a strategic planning process in late 2013, with a focus on identifying ways to further collaborate with other providers.

The next steps include the due diligence process, developing a definitive agreement, and applying for a Certificate of Exemption for a change of ownership with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.

The merger is expected to be completed later this year.
