Thank you for success of bike blessing

First United Methodist Church in Dixon hosted the first Sauk Valley Motorcycle Blessing May 18 at the Dixon riverfront. There were about 50 bikes and one bicycle blessed.

The church provided cookies and bottled water to all motorcyclists and other guests who dropped by to see what was happening on the riverfront.

Participants were able to enjoy live music provided by the church’s praise band, “The Rock.”

Seven businesses generously donated various prizes for a free raffle.

We would like to thank the following for their donations: Dixon – Angelo’s and Folsom’s Bakery; Sterling – Wahl Clipper Corp. and Douglas & Frye; Rock Falls – Gieson’s Motorsports; Polo – Jeff’s Refs; and Oregon – Woods.

We also would like to thank the pastors who blessed the bikes and riders: Pastor Mike Jones, Pastor Adam Meyers, Pastor Steve Young, Chaplain Vinnie Marrandino, and Preacher Terry.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make our first bike blessing a success.

We are already working on plans for next year’s event and hope that many more bikers will come and enjoy the afternoon.

Note to readers: Bob Morgan was the event organizer.
