BROOKFIELD, Wis. – Lois Margaret Cunningham, 89, formerly of Polo, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, peacefully after a long illness, at Brookfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Lois was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur and Jane (McGettigan) Kearns. She graduated in 1942 from Holy Angels Academy in Milwaukee. She continued her education, graduating from KSB School of Nursing in 1947. She married Willis A. Cunningham on Oct. 19, 1947, in Dixon, and they farmed outside Polo for 30 years. He preceded her in death.

A homemaker and registered nurse, in her spare time, Lois loved classic movies, decorating her home, and was an avid reader. She was a talented sketch artist. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Albert) Botros and Diane Campbell, both of Brookfield, Wisconsin; one brother, Arthur Kearns of Belen, New Mexico; two granddaughters, Kerri Mangold of Glenview and Bridget (John) Gilligan of Traverse City, Michigan; two step-granddaughters, Eleni Botros of Korinthos, Greece, and Danae Botros of Athens, Greece; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Lillian; and two step-great-grandchildren, Demmy and Bobby.

Honoring Lois’s final wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services. Church and Chapel Funeral Home in Brookfield, Wisconsin, is handling arrangements. Private graveside services for the family will be at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo.
