Fire extinguished at Darling International

CLINTON, Iowa – Firefighters on Thursday spent more than an hour extinguishing a fire at Darling International.

The Clinton Fire Department responded to the fire at 8:05 p.m. Thursday at 1423 Beaver Channel Parkway. Upon arrival, firefighters found a vessel used for bagging Darling’s product was on fire within the plant.

An interior attack was made, containing the fire to the vessel, according to a release from the fire department.

No injuries were reported.

Crews remained on scene for approximately 1 1/2 hours to extinguish the fire and hot spots.

The Camanche and Fulton, Illinois, fire departments assisted. No dollar loss is known at this time and the cause remains under investigation.
