DIXON – The Petunia City Quilters will offer a workshop and lecture Monday at Loveland Community House, 513 W. Second St.

Catherine Redford, a nationally-known quilt teacher, will offer a workshop and lecture on African folklore embroidery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is required. The cost is $20 for nonmembers. All participants will need to buy a kit for $32. Students will learn about African tribal art and wildlife, and a variety of stitches and techniques for the fiber art.

Redford’s lecture will be at 7 p.m., with a trunk show and information on tribal art and culture. Kits, supplies, and some tribal art pieces will be sold, with 5 percent of the proceeds donated to the KIDZPOSITIVE AIDS charity in South Africa.

For more information or to sign up for the workshop, call Jeanne Peska at 815-626-6627 or Nancy Wadsworth at 815-677-0119.
