STERLING – Planting season is here, and those looking for low-cost landscaping options might want to check out a plant sale that starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Grandon Civic Center gazebo on Fourth Street.

Hostas, day lillies, wildflowers, Mayapples, Lily of the Valley, and a multitude of other plants, many good for ground cover, some simply meant to be beautiful, will be available.

Get there early: The sale will run until the greenery is gone, organizer Deb Proctor said.

Proceeds will benefit the Amos Fund, which Proctor, a real estate agent, established in 2012 to help local people by paying part of their pets’ medical bills.

Can’t make the sale? You still can donate to the nonprofit group. Send a check to ReMax Sauk Valley, 110 Lynn Blvd., Sterling, IL 61081 or to River Ridge Animal Hospital, 273 state Route 2, Dixon, IL 61021.
