SYCAMORE – Duane Henry Rubendall, 70, of Sycamore, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at home from leukemia. He worked for DeKalb AgResearch for more than 30 years and retired in 1999, then worked for Monsanto for another 9 years.

He was born March 16, 1944, in Dixon, the son of Raphael and Velva (Smith) Rubendall. He served in the Army, stationed in Asmara, Eritrea. He married Anne Marie Shifflett on June 20, 1970. He was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Renee (Douglas) Huntman; a son, David Rubendall; two grandsons; and a brother, Ben (Susan) Rubendall. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Samuel D. Chriss; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn (Gallagher) Rubendall. 

Memorial visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday and the memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave. Military honors will be accorded after the service, followed by a luncheon and time for fellowship at the church. Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore is handling arrangements.

Memorials have been established to Sycamore United Methodist Church, DeKalb Area Agriculture Heritage Association, or Kish Health Systems Hospice, in care of Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.
