Not ready yet to ‘get over’ Benghazi attack

No, Ms. Bonnell, I won’t “get over it” [“Let’s get over Benghazi, focus on real issues,” The Reader’s Voice, May 8].

[According to some reports] the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, was brutally sodomized and murdered [and] his naked body was paraded through the streets by his killers. The three State Department contractors assigned to protect him were also murdered.

Jennifer Griffin, a national security correspondent for Fox News Channel, reported that former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team at the CIA annex, about a mile from the U.S. consulate. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate to help out. They were told to “stand down.” Soon after, they were again told to “stand down.”

Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld criticized President Obama for not even calling a meeting while Americans were being attacked on Sept. 11, 2012, and then opting to campaign in Las Vegas the day after the attack.

Speaking about taxpayer dollars, what about all the first lady’s vacations? What about all the trips the president takes for his endless campaigning?

The story they concocted to explain the atrocities was that this was a reaction of a street crowd to a cheap, anti-Muslin Internet clip made earlier that summer.

For a while, that story seemed to fly. The president was able to continue misleading the electorate with his claim that al-Qaida was on the run, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was able to distance herself from the failure of her State Department to protect its own employees.

This can all be corroborated by searching, and, yes, mid-term elections are just around the corner.
