Allen, Comets down Rams

Shayne Allen doubled twice and had three RBIs to lead Newman to a 15-4, 5 inning win over Riverdale in Port Byron.

Trevor Bolin pitched five innings, allowing five hits and four runs (three earned). He also had nine strikeouts and three walks.

Dillan Heffelfinger had three hits and an RBI, while A.J. Sharp drove in two runs.

Morrison 11, Bureau Valley 1: The Mustangs improved to 12-5 on the year and a perfect 10-0 in Three Rivers North play.

Bill Lee Greul got the win for Morrison, going all seven innings and giving up one unearned run and four hits. He also had 14 strikeouts and three walks.

At the plate, the Mustangs had four players with a pair of RBIs. Justin Jensen was one of them, and he was the only Mustang with two hits.

Oregon 4, Stillman Valley 1: The Hawks posted four runs in the first inning, and that was all the support Matt Murray needed in a Big Northern West win at home.

Murray allowed two hits and one run in seven innings, while striking out out 10 and walking two. Murray also had the game's lone extra-base hit with a double.

Sawyer Reynolds drove in two runs, while Tyler Blume had an RBI and a stolen base.

Milledgeville 9, AFC 6: The Missiles scored seven runs in the last three innings to secure an NUIC East win in Ashton.

Zach Herin had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Keagan Murray had two hits and an RBI. Caleb Skoog pitched seven innings, allowing six runs (two earned) and five hits, with six strikeouts and four walks.

Bret Gittleson (4 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 H, 6 SO, 4 BB, 1 HBP) took the loss for AFC (5-13, 1-11). David Zinke had two hits, including a double. Tristan Bushman drove in two runs.

Aquin 3, Forreston-Polo 1: The Cardinals scored their lone run in the top of the seventh, but the rally stopped there in an NUIC East loss at Highland Community College in Freeport.

Andrew Beasley took the loss, pitching four inninsg, allowing three hits and two runs, with one strikeout and one walk.

Wyatt Patterson had a triple and an RBI for the Cardinals (12-10, 9-3).

Galena 12, West Carroll 2, 6 inn.: The Pirates scored five runs in the sixth inning to finish off the Thunder in Galena.

The Thunder committed eight errors to allow Galena to blow the game open late, as the Pirates scored eight runs in the final two innings.

Josh Sullivan took the loss, and he gave up seven runs, four of which were earned, and three hits. He struck out 11 and walked three batters.

Shaun Magill had an RBI for the Thunder.
