Expresses gratitude for service

Published: Saturday, May 17, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

Do you ever want to say something to somebody but feel too awkward to just say it to them? I used to feel that way when I was younger, but my mom told me to give people their roses while they are here.

So that is what I intend to do now.

I want to say how much I appreciate a certain member of my community. I want to say that I am thankful for the years he spent in the U.S. military defending the freedom that you and I enjoy every day.

I want to tell him thank you for the 30-plus years of service he gave to the village of Lyndon as public works superintendent. I want also to say thanks for continuing to serve this community as he currently does.

My message is for a man named Les Williams. Thanks, Les.
