POLO – Polo Woman’s Garden Club’s annual plant sale was April 26.

Those who helped include Dave Grossnickle, Alice Cassens, Paul and Bev Wiemken, Florence Wragg, Kathy Knutson, Dorothy Kjolsing, Rick and Dee Hittlet, Bob and Myrna Boothe, and Renee Grenoble.

Stan Webster and Rick Hittlet each won a garden gift basket arranged by Janet Johnson, club member. The baskets were on display at First State Bank and Blackhawk Area Credit Union.

Club members distributed 2013 contributions to Polo Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center; Polo Area Senior Center, for supplies; and Centennial School for plantings, winter wear for children, and milk and lunches.

Also the Polo Area Community Theater was a recipient this year and Polo Public Library for its Summer Reading Program.

The garden club celebrates its 86th anniversary this year. The nonprofit organization uses plant sale proceeds for plantings, garden-related, educational material, and other needs. Past events have included a garden walk and flower shows.
