Hazel D. Merrill

OREGON – Hazel D. Merrill, 88, a lifelong Oregon resident, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.

She was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Oregon, the daughter of Charles and Lettie (McLaughlin) Hoffman. She married Charles E. Merrill on July 21, 1955, in North Platte, Neb. He died July 29, 1980. She was employed for nearly 30 years by Schiller Piano Factory, and retired from Atwood Manufacturing, both in Oregon. Hazel loved all animals.

Survivors include her brother, Donald (Shirley) Hoffman of Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.  

She also was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ella Jones and Flossie Mitchell, and brother, John Hoffman.

There will be no visitation. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon, with the Rev. Michael Hoffman, pastor of Oregon Church of God, officiating. Burial will be at Grand Detour Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon.
