School honored for improvement in Morrison

MORRISON – Southside Elementary School received an Academic Improvement Award in April from the State Board of Education.

The school was one of 125 schools recognized statewide. Southside’s award was for exemplary gains in performance on the state learning standards.

Criteria for earning the award include improvement of at least 7.5 points in state test scores in both reading and mathematics between 2012 and 2013, or of at least 15 points in state scores in reading and math between 2011 and 2013. The school also must show an upward trend in state test results.
