HEBRON (AP) – McHenry County officials say a northern Illinois man has died after falling off the back of a golf cart.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Stephen Canfield of Harvard died in the early Sunday accident. Police say Canfield was riding on the back of a golf cart on a roadway in Hebron Township when he fell for unknown reasons. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The golf cart driver and two passengers weren’t injured. The sheriff’s office says the vehicle didn’t have seat belts.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and McHenry County coroner are investigating.
