DIXON – Alice L. Oswalt, 83, of Dixon, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Montrose Memorial Hospital in Montrose, Colo.

She was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Louis and Rose (Tomaszewski) Kendzierski. She married George W. Oswalt on Dec. 18, 1948, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2002. She had been a nursing assistant, working at KSB Hospital in Dixon for 35 years, before her retirement in November 2013. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon.

She is survived by five sons, Brian (Sandra) Oswalt of Franklin Grove, Gary (Lana) Oswalt of Midlothian, Texas, Kevin (Sue) Oswalt and Timothy (Mary Beth) Oswalt, both of Dixon, and the Rev. Michael Oswalt of Olathe, Colo.; one daughter, Susan Humphrey of Amboy; 16 grandchildren Jennifer S., Jennifer M., Denise, Jacob, Sami, Matthew, Mary Alice, Maxwell, Elizabeth, Margaret, Emma, Joseph, Andrea, Justin, Lindsay, and Brittany; and four great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Kellen, Brayden, and Drew.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Patrick Michael; her sisters, Dorothy Bielecki, Margaret Kendzierski, Rosemary Babich, and Bernice Laughrin; and her brothers, Raymond, Chester, Louis, and Eugene Kendzierski. 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. A prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Bernard Sehr officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
