STERLING – Ruth V. Schutz, 77, of Sterling, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Ruth was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Bardstown, Ky., the daughter of Theodore and Annie Ruth (Robinson) Aldridge. She married John Schutz on Dec. 15, 1979, in Rock Falls. Ruth was a CNA for many years and also worked at GE as a factory worker tester for 12 years. She was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls, and was very involved there.

Survivors include her husband, John Schutz of Sterling; two daughters Jan (Mike) Devine of Rock Falls, and Doris (Howard) Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons, John Michael Schutz of Columbus, Ind., Howard (Patty) Finnicum of Virginia, and Robert Alan (Karla) Alender of Prophetstown; two sisters, Mary LaFrence of St. James City, Fla., and Anna (Curry) Hicks of Sterling, two brothers, Robert (Silvia) Aldridge of Lyndon, and Reverend Lester Aldridge of Arkansas; and 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, two sisters, four brothers and one grandson.

Visitation will begin from 1 to 2 p.m. and the funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating. Cremation rites will follow.
