Boys roundup: First inning dooms Warriors

Shayne Allen singled home Trevor Bolin in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday to send the Newman Comets to a 5-4 nonconference victory over the Hall Red Devils in Sterling. It was Allen's second RBI of the game, and preserved a strong start from Bolin and two innings of no-hit relief by Brandon Burke, who got the win after Hall scored a run in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. Bolin struck out 11 and walked two, allowing on earned run in seven innings. A.J. Sharp had two hits and an RBI, and Alex Buhler, Nate Olson and Dillan Heffelfinger also drove in run for the Comets (11-7).
