ROCK FALLS – Police are looking for a female robber who got away with cash in a holdup early Friday at Casey’s General Store, 1201 W. Route 30.

A clerk told police the robber was a white, heavyset female, 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-10, who was dressed in all black, wearing a hoodie, scarf and gray-colored gloves, according to a news release that police issued Friday morning.

Police said the woman reportedly brandished a small revolver as she demanded money from the cash register. She fled through the front door with an unknown amount of cash.

The Rock Falls Police Department news release said the department received a call from the Casey’s General Store alarm company at 4:27 a.m. Friday indicating that a holdup alarm went off at the Casey’s on Route 30. Officers responded to the scene within minutes and determined that the suspect had fled the scene on foot.

The store clerk had not been injured, police said.

Police obtained a description of the robber from an interview with the clerk and a review of the security video from the store. Police could not determine in which direction the robber fled. The exact amount of currency taken also was unknown.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and new information will be released as it becomes available.

Anyone who has information about the robbery – or might have witnessed a female in the area before or after the crime – is asked to call the Rock Falls Police Department or CrimeStoppers, or email the department at tips@rockfalls61071.com.
