CHADWICK – Margaret Turney, 88, of Chadwick, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in Mount Morris.

Margaret was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Chadwick, the daughter of Chester and Bertha (Kness) Kahler. She attended Chadwick High School and graduated with the class of 1943. She married Glen C. Turney on Jan. 18, 1947. Glen died Aug. 15, 2001.

Margaret farmed with her husband for 42 years until 1991, when they moved to town in 1991. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed the time she spent farming, camping, and traveling with Glen. She also loved gardening and cooking, and was famous for her caramels and peanut brittle.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her sister, Frances (William) Schryver of Milledgeville; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Beth Turney; and a nephew, David Turney.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday and the memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hope United Methodist Church in Chadwick. Burial will be at Chadwick Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to Hope United Methodist Church, Chadwick Ambulance, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
