ROCK FALLS – Herman D. Shaw, 81, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at his home.

Herman was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Wayne County, the son of Vernon and Mary Edith (Rainwater) Shaw. He married Lena Fern Gammon on June 28, 1952, in Mount Vernon. He was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Herman was employed by Sandusky Garbage, the city of Rock Falls, and Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., retiring in 1995.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Barbara McCoy and Caraline (Michael) Vasquez, and one son, Richard (Christi) Shaw, all of Rock Falls; one daughter-in-law, Pam Shaw of Brownstown; one sister, Margie Wiggens of Fairfield; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Shaw; five sisters, Dorthy Keen, Mildred Ellis, Freda Clark, Arlene Flannigan, and Gerladine Berguson; three brothers, Mervin Shaw, Donald Shaw, and Howard Shaw; and one grandson, Shani Gould.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.

A memorial has been established.
