DIXON – Gary Nelson Elliott, 65, of Dixon, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Coventry Living Center in Sterling. He worked for Commonwealth Edison at the Byron Nuclear Plant for 30 years before his retirement in 1999.

Gary was born May 24, 1948, in Dixon, the son of George and Ada Mae (Gray) Elliott. He married Cheryl Allen on July 16, 1966, in Dixon. He was a member of Dixon Elks Lodge Benevolent Protective Order of Elks 779, Pheasants Forever, and Briar Knoll Hunting Club. Gary was an avid boater, hunter, and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Denise (Dave) North, one sister, Georgia “Diann” Frey, and two grandsons, Austin and Alex North, all of Dixon; and two nephews, Joey (Cindy) Frey of Dixon and Eric (April) Frey of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. There will be no funeral services. Cremation rites will be accorded.

A memorial has been established.
