Dorothy M. Gehrt

DIXON – Dorothy M. Gehrt, 91, of Dixon, died Monday, April 28, 2014, at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. 

Dorothy was born July 19, 1922, in Amboy, the daughter of Bowden and Nelta (Landau) Jesse. She married Walter Gehrt on July 5, 1946, in Ashton. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Gehrt of Dixon; two sons, Dennis (Karen) Gehrt of Blacksburg, Va., and Jerome (Carol) Gehrt of Dixon; one daughter, Beverly Helfrich of Dixon; one sister, Laura Henrichs of Shelbyville, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Scott and Jason Heller, Jeff Helfrich, and Danielle, Cole, Elizabeth, and Mollie Gehrt; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sydney, Kayla, and Kristen Heller, Hunter and Austin Gehrt, and Jordan and Lexy Wadsworth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Jesse and Donald Jesse; and two sisters, Rita Jesse and Irene Haak.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Frank Langholf, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

A memorial has been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon.
