PROPHETSTOWN – Birkey’s Farm Store in Prophetstown sponsored a peanut butter and jelly drive.

Kids collected 17 jars Feb. 3 through April 4 for the Prophetstown Food Pantry.

Those who donated entered a drawing for a toy Farmall tractor. Carson Leif of Chadwick won in Prophetstown and William Atkinson of Prophetstown won at the Annawan store.

The event was part of Birkey’s 60-Day Hunger Drive for the company’s 60th anniversary. It was a partnership with seven area food banks.

All Birkey’s stores throughout the state took part. Birkey’s provided more than 1 million meals, or nearly $167,000, for hunger relief.
