DIXON – Sharon Dee McCardle, 79, of Dixon, went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 28, 2014. She worked as an insurance rater for USF&G in Dixon for 29 years before her retirement.

Sharon was born Sept. 15, 1934, in Dixon, the daughter of Albert and Florence (Craig) Edwards. She married Lilburn L. McCardle on Jan. 22, 1956, in Dixon. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2006. Sharon loved her God and her family, flower gardens, and going to rummage sales and craft shows with her friends.  

Survivors include two sons, Bradley (Mary) McCardle and Martin (Traci) McCardle, both of Dixon; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William and Ace Edwards.

The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Daniel Bentz, pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Dixon, officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Granny Rose Animal Shelter, Serenity Hospice & Home, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
