Chacon’s scoring spree lifts Duchesses

Lauren Chacon had four goals and two assists to lead the Dixon girls soccer team to a 6-0 victory at Mendota on Monday.

Katie Provo finished with a pair of goals for the Duchesses, while Cristen Rozek, Ashley Knopp, Caitlin Rozek and Elizabeth Provo added assists. Dixon (11-3) has won 10 consecutive games.

Carly Hartle made seven saves in recording her 10th shutout this season.

Sterling 7, LaSalle-Peru 0: Fatima Gallardo, Kaitlyn Bauer and Rosa Sanchez each scored two goals for the Golden Warriors (6-11-1) as they downed the Cavaliers on the road.

Gallardo, Bauer and Julia Diaz each added an assist, and LaSalle-Peru tacked on an own goal to push the score to seven.

Boys tennis

United Township 5, Newman 0: Playing at No. 2 doubles, Newman's Brady Reuter and Elliot Frankfother took United Township's Matthew Greer and Colton O'Brien to a third set but lost.

The Comets were swept in straight sets in all of the other matches.


Lutheran 7, Oregon 3: Sawyer Reynolds drove in a pair of runs for the Hawks in a home loss to the Crusaders. It was called after six innings.

Matt Murray took the loss, allowing seven runs (two earned), nine hits and two walks while striking out seven.
