AMBOY – Amboy police Monday arrested a second teenager in connection with a string of burglaries that have been reported in the area.

James D. Jones, 18, was arrested Monday on three burglary charges and two counts of residential burglary.

The first teen, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested Thursday on charges of residential burglary, burglary to a motor vehicle, burglary, and unlawful possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested after police received a call at 5 a.m. Thursday to report a residential burglary. Two teenage girls were asleep inside the home at the time of the burglary, police say, but they were unharmed.

Just before 10 a.m., officers searched the boy's home and found items that had been reported taken from the girls' home, as well as items reported stolen from other burglaries.

The 17-year-old was being held Monday at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center, and Jones was in Lee County Jail.
