ROCHELLE – A 23-year-old Rochelle man wanted in connection with an apparent gang-related shooting late Friday was in Ogle County Jail Sunday on $500,000 bond.

Michael A. Maise Jr. is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon as a felon.

Officers were called to 322 S. Main St. around 11 p.m. Friday, where three to four shots were heard after "an argument between individuals involved in gang activity," Rochelle police said in a news release.

A teen younger than 18 was shot in the leg; he was taken to a Rockford hospital, treated and released, the release said.

A warrant was issued for Maise, who was arrested around 4 p.m. Saturday in Rochelle, police said in a subsequent release.

According to Ogle County Court records, Maise was sentenced in November 2011 to 4 years probation for a June 8, 2010 burglary. He was arrested three times for failure to appear in that case, most recently on April 14, when he was issued a $1,000 recognizance bond and released.
