Jean Moews

PROPHETSTOWN – Jean (Burdsall) Moews, 89, of Prophetstown, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home in Sterling.

Jean was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Prophetstown, the daughter of William and Bessie (Rhodes) Burdsall. She married Frank Moews Jr. on April 8, 1944, and they farmed in Prophetstown for many years. He died November 8, 2005. Jean enjoyed cooking and baking goods for her family. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown.

Surviving are her daughters, Sue (Kent) DeMay and Ann (Larry) Prindaville; her son, William Moews; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Anderson.

A gathering of friends and family will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Kathy Burkheimer officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Arrangements by McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown.

Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown or to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
