Information in tire slashing sought

STERLING – Sterling police are asking for downtown businesses’ help in investigating the extensive tire slashing that happened sometime between the evening of April 18 and the morning of April 19.

Any businesses in the downtown area that have video surveillance of the outside of their property between 10 p.m. April 18 and 7 a.m. April 19 are asked to call the Sterling Police Department at 815-632-6640 and ask for Officer Niki Diehl.

Police say the tires of about 20 cars were slashed sometime during that overnight period in the 300 to 500 blocks of Locust Street, 800 block of First Avenue, 600 block of Fourth Avenue, and 500 block of Fifth Avenue.
